TECHNOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OFFERED
The SESAMO 2 laboratory has equipment that allows the study of the surface chemical properties of different types of materials of technological interest; its researchers are expert in using the XPS technique to quantitatively characterize different types of surface treatments.
– As an example, it is possible to characterize the effectiveness of plasma treatments or chemical functionalizations of polymeric membranes (nonwovens), with interesting applications in the biomedical field (blood filters, etc.).
DESCRIPTION OF RELATED RESEARCH
Study of the effectiveness of surface functionalizations, aimed at modulating surface wettability, anti-fouling properties, etc. Study of aging processes of treatments.
Spectroscopic characterization can be combined with wettability (contact angle) measurements, which can also be extended to the microscale, using the ESEM microscope.
